ABOUT ME

Cory Jones is currently the Database and Operational Support Manager at the Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County. Primary tasks include entering all donations into donor databases, querying and creating reports for heads of departments, recording all batched donations for end of fiscal year auditing, drafting and sending donation tax receipt letters, balancing end of month ledgers and deposit logs, managing accounts payable, creating webpages for various fund raising campaigns, creating ticketing for local arts groups renting space, troubleshooting IT issues, auditing IT budget for cost saving measures, managing office spaces, and occasionally providing customer support for donors.

Typically, you can find Cory cheerfully greeting his coworkers and offering them a piece of chocolate from his chocolate jar. When not at his desk, he is often delivering or picking up campus mail, watching the production team put up sets, or visiting the facilities men - they get lonely in the basement of the building! He likes to believe a little bit of humor and good will lightens the work environment.

When not at work, Cory is either busy learning more about data analytics, working for his small business (North Carolina Double Reed Company), or chasing his loony German Shorthair, Whiskey, around the house. All three of these ventures began during the COVID pandemic. Prior to switching to STEM, Cory was a professional bassoonist and teacher for 12 years.

The pandemic slammed everyone into uncertainty and like most others, Cory started to pick  up different hobbies to keep himself busy. He started community college for Database Management, he adopted sweet baby Whiskey, and he began the seeds of his business all while taking care of his elderly Grandmother, Ruby. Sadly, she did not get to see him graduate or get his first tech job; but her humor, empathy, and wisdom remain a driving force for Cory.
